Our
Story
One of the highlights of Pastor Berry's ministry was the acquisition of five acres of land on the northwest corner of Thornydale and Lambert. It was acquired in the hope that one day, Desert Springs might be able to build their own facility upon it.
After Pastor Berry's resignation, Desert Springs began what would ultimately become an international search for their new pastor. It was international in scope because their search
quickly led them to the highlands of Scotland. On the same day that
Pastor Berry submitted his resignation to Desert Springs in Tucson,
William Rainey had submitted his resignation to Dingwall Baptist
Church in Dingwall, Scotland.
Dingwall Baptist Church had been planted by Pastor
Rainey and his wife Beverly in July, 1999, and had quickly grown
into a thriving church in the highlands. It began as a Bible study in the Rainey's home. It wasn't too long after the study began that they rented the coffee bar at the Dingwall Community Center for regular Sunday morning services. After a year there, they rented the Dingwall Town Hall to accomodate the ever growing number of people who were coming. Within a year and a half, they had outgrown the Town Hall and began to meet at the Dingwall Primary School. This became their home until they purchased and refitted the Ross County Social Club.
